About
I am Krysta and I started my knorfolksknots Etsy shop in 2013, here I am 10 years later building the foundation of my website.
I have always been a crafter, learning my basic crochet skills at age 8, from my grandmothers, who both crochet. My aunt Kelly taught me to cross stitch when I was 18. (I tried to finish it later, but I really bungled that first project badly). This background on stitching, my basic sewing skills and my love of cross stitch developed the "knots" portion of my shop name.
As a crafter I did not do many vending events until after my move to Texas in 2017. Events are much more fun for me than taking photos and editing product descriptions on my Etsy site, and I have used them to travel around Texas.
My sister Alana is also a fabulous crafter and we frequently try to get together and have fun making things. When possible we try to do some vending events together. We live 3 hours from one another, and have families of our own, but enjoy the time we get to see each other. Crafting and vending are an Excellent excuse!
I have occasionally paired with other artists to share space at events, network, and be able to take breaks. I love my artists!
My family is supportive of my crafting, and tolerant of the mess I make doing it. I get to paint with my daughter Thea, and my husband Mike, will load the car for my events. Lydia reminds me to put them away when I am not working on them. I am so thankful for my family.
There are various communities I am a part of and support. Mike and I were both in the Marine Corps, so Veteran issues are near and dear to my heart. I also support the LGBTQ+ community and the SemiColon Project. Many of the events I participate in are fundraisers for various causes, please let me know if you are interested in pairing with me for a fundraiser.
